Fifa's Executive Committee recently announced that it would base the seedings solely on its ranking system as it stands on October 17, meaning that both the 2010 World Cup runners-up and the Euro 2012 finalists will be unseeded unless Uruguay fail to beat Jordan in the intercontinental play-offs, in which case Netherlands will take their place among the seeded teams.
Hosts Brazil (11th in the Fifa Ranking) will be joined by reigning world champions Spain (first), while Germany (second), Argentina (third), Colombia (fourth), Belgium (fifth), Uruguay (sixth) and Switzerland (seventh) all make pot one as well.
Ottmar Hitzfeld's Switzerland are arguably the biggest winners of the latest Fifa Ranking as they jump from 14th position to seventh, while Italy will feel aggrieved at having dropped four places in the past month.
England have climbed seven places to enter the top 10 once again, but also miss out on a place among the World Cup seeds.
Cote d'Ivoire are the highest ranked African team in 17th position, while Ghana climb one place to 23rd.
