Zambia boss Patrice Beaumelle has spoken of his pride at leading his side against Brazil.
The 35-year-old interim coach, who replaced Herve Renard last week, took charge of the Chipolopolo for the first time as they went down 2-0 to the Selecao at the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing on Tuesday.
And the Frenchman was pleased with his side’s showing despite second-half goals from Oscar and Dede condemning him to a debut defeat.
“As the coach of the Zambian national team, I would just like to thank the people who organised this match,” he said.
“Once again, this is a big opportunity for Zambian football and for African football as a whole to explore China.
"To be in front of a team as big as Brazil is a privilege. I can tell you that this evening I’m proud to be the coach of the Chipolopolo, because we showed that in Africa we can play good football.
“It’s a dream to play on this pitch, at this stadium. We found that some Chinese people were supporting Zambia. It was a great honour.”
The Frenchman went on to reveal his satisfaction at his side’s first-half display, but admitted they tired after the break and found Neymar, in particular, difficult to contain.
