Maxwell has underlined the importance of the opportunity handed to a number of the squad in Brazil’s 2-0 victory over Zambia in Beijing on Tuesday.
The PSG defender was one of seven changes made by coach Luiz Felipe Scolari for the Gillette Brasil Global Tour fixture at the Bird’s Nest Stadium and the 32-year-old was grateful for the chance to impress.
"This was our opportunity to show Felipao that he can count on us, which is really important,” Maxwell said.
Diego Cavalieri, Dede, Lucas Leiva, Lucas Moura, Ramires and Alexandre Pato all came into the starting line-up.
“This match was fundamental to us,” Maxwell continued.
